The Pearl vs. Lottery Winners
In chapter 3 of The Pearl Kino finds a pearl that many people call ” Pearl of the World”. all of sudden people are coming to him asking him for favors. This chapter is also like the article about lottery winners. In the chapter Kino had so many things he wanted to do now that he had the pearl which included him and Juana getting married and Coyotito going to school. His dreams are interrupted with the doctor coming in his house to telling them Coyotito is still very ill and might die from the scorpion sting. In the end the doctor heals Coyotito and asks for the bill and what they will be paying with. This part is like the article because the people in the article were people who won the lottery and loss it all to many things. For example buying too many thing and borrowing too much. Kino was like this because he thought about the many things he would buy. Also in the article the winners had family members asking for money and getting sued unnecessarily like Kino and his neighbors. I predict that in the book Kino will lose the pearl like the lottery winners lost their fortune.For example the doctor may ask for it or steal it or he might throw it back into the sea because of all the trouble its bringing.
